Original drawing in sketchbook - repetitive elements such as legs only drawn once in detail and generally located on the large sketch.

Image scanned into photoshop. Contrast increased. Image printed out full size. On tracing paper, wings, shading and additional detail elements added. Trace image is scanned in and added as a layer in Photoshop. Cut and paste legs, rotate and reposition.

Add layer set as "multiply" with transparency set to about 40 percent. Erase from this layer to acheive highlights. Add additional layer to add shading.

Cut and paste whole and partial elements. Motion blur and rotation on the wings.
